Commercial Aviation Manufacturers Association of South Africa is a joint initiative of industry and government that represents the business interests of the sector, with a view to significant export growth. The purpose of CAMASA is the establishment of a Growth-Bilateral between Government and Industry to significantly boost South African Commercial Aviation Manufacturing Exports through:
- Public-Private partnership
- Integrated Industry Growth Plan
- Expanding Advanced Manufacturing
- Future-orientated competitiveness (IoT, Ind 4.0)
- Labor Engagement & Skills Development
The outcomes for the Commercial Aviation Manufacturing Sector is to:
- Double manufactured Exports over a period of five years;
- Localise imports of materials and components;
- Grow Sector employment by 60% in high-tech jobs;
- Transform the Sector including Ownership, Skills- and Supplier Development with particular emphasis on Black Industrialisation;
- Leverage and deploy the Advanced Manufacturing Skills;
- Drive the industrialization and commercial deployment of leading edge Technologies such as Additive Manufacturing;
- Establish a Best-Practice Advanced Manufacturing Hub by applying Advanced Manufacturing Best Practices to the CAV and possibly other regional off-shoots;
- Promote direct partnerships with international OEM’s and/or Technology partners, to demonstrate and showcase local industry capabilities and capacities to collaborate; and
- Forge stronger ties with global Aviation and Advanced Manufacturing companies.
